MOVE, SAY, & PLAY

The focus of the Move, Say, & Play group is on the development of critical skills for success in daily activities. Through play, conversation, crafts and games, this social skills group for kids targets many skills, including appropriate peer interactions, taking turns, social language skills, accepting consequences, following directions, spatial awareness, fine motor skills and problem-solving.  Therapists utilize concepts from the We Thinkers program of the Social Thinking Curriculum. Sessions of the Move, Say, & Play groups take place in the fall, winter and spring.  The 5:30 group also utilizes concepts from the Superflex program.

The groups are held for eight weeks on Thursdays. The groups are led by both an occupational therapist and a speech therapist.

​​​Please note that group sessions are not coded and billable to insurance. Sensational Kids Therapy will provide FSA/HSA documentation upon request.

 

NEW FOR FALL 2026: PARENT SUPPORT GROUP AT MAVEN PSYCHOLOGY running concurrently with Move, Say and Play. 

​

The focus of the Parent Group is to support carers as they guide their children in implementing the We Thinkers program content in their homes. Groups, led by licensed psychologists, focus on reviewing the critical skills that children learn in groups, tips for implementing skills at home, and troubleshooting potential barriers and difficulties that families face. Time will also be spent connecting with other parents and learning what works for other families with similar needs. Sessions take place at the same time as the childrens' groups.  Parents can drop their children off at Sensational Kids and attend the parent group from 4:35-5:15 or 5:35-6:15 at Maven Psychology, right next door to our office at 5232 44th Street, NW, Suite # 4.  Please reach out directly to Maven Psychology if interested in the parent group.
