LISTENING
THERAPY
Helping children reach their full potential
Sensational Kids Therapy now offers the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) to clients per the Integrated Listening System.
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol?
SSP is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, emotional regulation, and social engagement by listening to specially filtered music through headphones. Using the auditory system as a portal, the nervous system is re-tuned to be more resilient, allowing for a more efficient response to daily challenges.
Why is my child having challenges processing and modulating auditory information?
-
Repeated ear infections or undetected fluid in the middle ear can cause loss of muscle strength in the ear cavity resulting in “learned disuse” of the typical activation patterns.
-
Children who have a propensity for low muscle tone can also have low tone in the muscles in the ear cavity, impacting their ability to process and modulate input.
-
Repeated instances of auditory input that is not well tolerated can put a child’s nervous system in a state of ‘fight or flight’ or shutdown, impacting overall emotional regulation.
